Example: How Costs Are Shared Proportionally

This section relates to the Shared Amounts feature in the Coverages section when creating or editing an allocation. The following illustrates how a shared amount is distributed proportionally across cost components.

Note that the shared amount is calculated from the target amount excluding any shared amounts.

Distribute $20,000 in broker fees across cost components:

Total cost components for Auto: $200,000

Total cost components for Property: $400,000

Property: 67% x $20,000 = $13,400* added to the total

Auto: 33% x $20,000 = $6,600* added to the total

*Final results may differ due to factors including fixed rates or modifiers.
